Take the red pill or the blue pill?

Hey, we are all used to spam nowadays especially for some kind of black market pharmesutical or another, but I thought I would share this one with the class.
In a reference to The Matrix this spam for Viagra is truely bizzare.

Wasn’t it that if Neo took the blue pill, his mind stayed inside the matrix and every thing remained the same?

M$ takes over the Beeb

Well not quite, but their iPlayer application is XP only at the moment with no plan to support non MS platforms.
10 Downing St is running a petition at the moment to urge the corporation to support other platforms.

You can (and should) vote here.

This we carry

I have been looking at some pictures on Flickr, a photopool where people ( over three hundred at last count ) post pictures of what they carry on a day to day business.
Now I have looked at a fair number of these images and two thinks strike me. Firstly, a lot of people, girls and guys, carry knives everyday.

Secondly, there are a number of people who carry a laptop with them and all of them so far are Macs of some shape or form. I haven’t seen one image containing a PC laptop. Quite a thing really.

It is almost adictive seeing whats in peoples bags and pockets. Like many of the poster I carry far too much junk around with me. Time for a life laundry perhaps?

Key information

There are some great pictures of the new Apple keyboard on gizmondo today.

Did you notice they have removed the Apple symbol from the command keys?

Why would they do that then…?

Earnings

Apple recently reported another record quarter of sales. Their rate of growth is truly astonishing and their share price makes be curse that I didn’t buy some shares when they were $7.

What is curious however is that they also said that the next quarter (bear in mind that’s the holiday one) will be very much less (by the tune of $600m).
Apple CFO Peter Oppenhimer drooped the bomb-shell (get it) at the recent financial conference call, saying that there are three reasons for the prediction “the promotion, higher component costs and product transitions. “I can’t get into” the product transitions”.

The promotion he was referring to is the “back to school” promotion in the US which heavily discounts kit to educational establishments and student.

I think the component costs he referred to are all the flash memory chips they are buying up at the moment for iPods, iPhones and possibly the rumoured Lightweight Mac Book Pro, which is supposed to have silicon storage, instead of a hard disk.

Product transitions
From what I am reading the next gen. iPod isn’t ready. We are all expecting an iPhone alike hard disk iPod to be released soon and from the rumour mill it won’t be here for another 6 months. We will get a revised 5g alike that is thinner and smaller with a new iPod OS.

Lastly, I would not be surprised if they release Leopard as a software product for third party Intel boxes.

This will of course mean that their hardware business will suffer terribly but it makes sense; Vista has failed to spark the expected enthusiasm with the PC community, and 10.5 is coming along nicely (it really is actually – I have been playing with it this week), what better time to capitalise on Microsoft’s failure and the wave of interest among the iPod and iPhone WinTel users.
Now I could be talking out of somewhere not associated with verbal communication because I haven’t seen this anywhere yet, but you never know, stranger things have happened.

Blame

Sometimes I get a little confused about which year we are living in. Normally I think it is 2007 but every now and then it seems like 1307. Some bishops of the UK Anglican church have decided that the reasone we are having so many weather anomolies recently (Flooding etc.) is that we are a morally degraded society and it is their god’s judgement on us all for being such naughty little sheep.

The normally even handed Daily Telegraph has an article here.

So remember if you are gay or do anything that this guy might deem as immoral…

Tosser

…he and his croanies say that this…

Judgement

….is your fault because his god is punishing us all for your sins and it has nothing at all to do with global warming, shifting climates and the warming of the seas.
What an enlightened modern point of view. Tomorrow when the gates of hell open and the four riders of the apocalypse come to exact revenge upon us all (because the flooding failed to make an impact), I might eat my hat, but I will keep my atheist views for now thanks.

This of course is the same organisation who institutionalised the covering up of child molestation by their lower orders a few years back.

Let he who is without sin throw the first stone“.

Sick

Well after having a great time at the Summer Camp (Boot Camp – whatever), I have come down with a bad case of “manflu” (no sympathy from wifey as usual) and infected cellulitus on my shins. The doc thinks because I have eczma on my legs, its let a bug in. They look like I have a big red birthmark on both legs. Quite unpleasent.
I went to work Friday and ducked out early to visit the doctors and have been quite peaky over the weekend, losing my voice and coughing up some stuff I sant describe for common decencies sake.
He gave me some tablets that are so big they wouldn’t of looked out of place in the arms of Moses as he came down from the mount (if you believe such things). I think they are the same dose Penicillin you have when you catch the clap.
The legs are looking far better after a few days of antibiotics and the blotches now just look like uneven sun-tan.

My long sufering colleague Ian called a while ago and he is going to come in on his home working day again to cover. Sorry mate, I’ll be back as soon as, but you really wouldn’t want this.
