Its that time again..

Looking outside my window I see that the sky is permanently grey, the floor is continuously damp and the people are miserable.

Hey it must be winter here in the UK.

Yes folks, the dark season has crept upon us and S.A.D. has kicked in. Getting up in the morning has become even more of a chore than ever. Its not that I don’t want to get up, just that the bed is warm, the windows are dark and the outside is chilly.
There is nothing to aid my sleep than a warm bed in a cold room.

The project to migrate our ageing network of fruit to shiny new everything is progressing and we have begun to deploy machines into minor areas. I think that the order of deployment has been chosen using some black art whose subtleties I am too pure to appreciate, I just don’t get the way the order of play has been scheduled. I think one reasoning behind it is the meddling of one manager who was tasked with selling the project to the various production areas. Because he has his own agenda for change however, he couldn’t give a toss about our favourite source of (objective) Vit. C. He takes pride in telling how he “eradicated” Macs from the previous companies he worked for, and intends to achieve the same with us.
Difference here is that there are a number of high ranking people that want to keep Macs, if not increase their numbers. Doubly so now OS X is being deployed. Anyway this individual didn’t do the presentations he was supposed to and two of the major areas haven’t even been spoken to yet. The project has been running for TWO YEARS – WTF? you would think that someone would have picked this up before now (especially as we have been telling them the same for the last 18 months).
We have a new resource, whom, in reverence to the BOFH we shall call PFY.
PFY has come on leaps and bounds. After starting with us knowing absolutely nothing, he has become a valuable member of the team. Wish we had more of hims in the other teams.
